A simple skin care routine for men (that takes less than 3 minutes)
A no-fuss routine for oily skin, tan, razor bumps and beard-area breakouts, plus the clinic treatments men most often ask about.

Many men use whatever soap is in the bathroom, shave when needed, and think of skin care as something for someone else. But oily skin, tan, blackheads, razor bumps, dark circles and early hair fall affect men just as much, and a simple routine makes a visible difference within weeks.
How men’s skin is different
- Thicker and oilier, because of higher androgen levels, so pores clog and blackheads form more easily
- Daily shaving removes the top layer of skin, which can cause irritation, razor bumps and ingrown hairs
- More time outdoors for many men, on two-wheelers or at work sites, so tan and sun damage build up
- Beard-area acne from sweat, helmets, masks and touching the face
The 3-minute routine
Morning (2 minutes)
- Face wash, not soap. Bathing soap strips the skin. Use a gel face wash; one with salicylic acid suits oily skin with blackheads.
- Light moisturiser. An oil-free gel absorbs in seconds and does not feel greasy.
- Sunscreen. This is the step that prevents tan, dark spots and early wrinkles. Choose a gel or matte sunscreen, SPF 30 or more, and apply it to the face, neck and ears.
Tip: a moisturiser with SPF can combine steps 2 and 3 on busy days.
Night (1 minute)
- Face wash to remove sweat, dust and sunscreen.
- Moisturiser, or a product for your concern: niacinamide for oil and tan, or a gentle acne treatment if you get breakouts.
That is it. Consistency matters more than adding more products.
Shaving without bumps
Razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis) happen when curly hair grows back into the skin. They are common on the neck and jawline.
- Wash first, or shave after a shower, to soften the hair.
- Use shaving gel or cream, not just water or soap.
- Shave in the direction of hair growth, not against it.
- Use a sharp blade and do not stretch the skin.
- Do not go over the same area many times.
- Rinse with cool water and apply a soothing, alcohol-free after-shave or moisturiser.
- A trimmer instead of a close shave, or laser hair removal on the neck and beard line, can solve persistent bumps.
Common concerns and what helps
Oily skin and blackheads
A salicylic acid face wash, oil-free moisturiser, and a monthly clean-up medi-facial or a course of carbon facials.
Tan
Daily sunscreen, which most men skip. Medi-facials, de-tan peels and carbon facials remove existing tan faster.
Acne and back acne
A gentle routine, showering soon after workouts, loose cotton clothes, clean pillow covers and helmets, and clinic treatment if it is painful or scarring.
Dark circles
Sleep, less screen time at night, treating allergies, and sunscreen around the eyes.
Hair fall and thinning
Notice it early. Male pattern hair loss is treatable, and the earlier you start, the more hair you keep.
Clinic treatments men often choose
- Medi-facial or HydraFacial for oil, blackheads and tan, with no downtime
- Carbon facial for very oily skin and open pores
- Laser hair removal for the beard line, neck, back and chest
- Acne and acne scar treatment, including RF microneedling for pits
- PRP and medical treatment for hair fall and thinning
Common questions
Is sunscreen really necessary for men? Yes. Tan, dark spots and early lines come mainly from sun. A gel sunscreen takes 20 seconds and is not greasy.
Do I need a separate beard product? If your beard is long, a little beard oil or conditioner keeps the skin underneath from getting dry and itchy. Wash the beard area properly to avoid breakouts.
Is it normal for a man to get facials or laser? Very much so. A large share of clinic clients are men, especially for laser hair removal, tan, acne and hair fall.
The bottom line
Face wash, moisturiser and sunscreen every morning; face wash and moisturiser at night; shave the smart way. That covers most men’s skin needs. For oil, tan, bumps, acne and hair fall that do not settle, a clinic can help.
